Windows Phone users gain access to Amazon super app

Online retailer Amazon has recently brought out an app for those with Microsoft-powered handsets. This new mobile shopping gadget makes use of a barcode scanner to check retail prices in stores.

It is hoped the free barcode scanning app (available from the Windows Phone Marketplace) will increase the popularity of smartphones using the Windows mobile operating system as consumers will be able to use it to scan products and compare them with the Amazon price as well as make ‘one-click’ purchases through their device.

VP of EU Retail at Amazon, Greg Greeley, explained:

“The new Amazon Mobile App for Windows Phone offers customers all of the great features of the Amazon Shopping experience and Windows Phone customers can also benefit from the Amazon barcode scanning tile on their start screen.”

“The Windows Phone is an increasingly popular choice for many Amazon customers so we’re delighted to be able to offer them a bespoke App with this new start screen feature only available for Windows Phone.”

In addition to the features already mentioned, Windows Phone owners can read user reviews through the app, track their orders, check out personalised recommendations and share products with their friends.
